Battledress style uniform of a Legionnaire 2e Classe from the early 1980s this uniform was only used for a short period of time, based on the 1946 pattern uniform but made with modern lighter materials, The unit is identified by the rectangular 2e REI unit insignia hanging from the right breast pocket and the lanyard (fourragere) of the Croix de guerre des Théâtres d'opérations extérieures (TOE), the rank is identified by the sleeve diamond (ecusson) on the left shirt /tunic sleeve, the 2eme REI are part of the 6th Light Armored Brigade - 6e Brigade Légère Blindée, as indicated by the division patch worn on the right upper arm (hidden in this example), by the epaulettes de tradition, also worn are the F1 web belt and blue sash (ceiture bleue)
NB not shown are the FAMAS (rifle), bayonet and scabbard and extra chin strap usually worn with the parade uniform
